About the artist
Mascha Polynceva was born in the former USSR and spent her childhood traveling with her parents between the far North and the far South. She grew up in Leningrad in the 1980s, studying there before continuing her education in Berlin. With a strong academic foundation in comparative linguistics and philology, she approaches her artistic practice through a transdisciplinary lens, weaving together language, history, materiality, and memory.
Based between Vienna, Lugano, and Berlin, she produces unique works in her studio, working across diverse mediums including painting, stitching, mosaic, papier-mâché, and more. Her practice integrates her wide-ranging cultural experiences and continues to evolve. Alongside her studio practice, she regularly hosts and participates in exhibitions.
